Coventry City host Watford at the Coventry Building Society Arena this Saturday for Matchday 12 of the EFL Championship, with kick-off at 12:30 live on Sky Sports+.
The Sky Blues sit top of the table with 25 points after a 2-1 victory away to Portsmouth, while Watford are 12th on 15 points following their 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion last time out.
Coventry came out on top the last time these two sides met, winning 2-1, and will be aiming to extend their fine run of form at home.
Ross Cooper (SkyBlues Extra): The unbeaten run continued on tuesday night after we went down to Fratton Park and picked up a 5th straight win with a 1-2 success with a brace from Brandon Thomas-Asante, taking him to 8 goals and joint top scorer in the league alongside our very own Haji Wright.
The confidence is just flowing in the side at the moment and tuesday saw Frank Lampard make a change to not only personel but also the formation as he brought Luke Woolfenden in for his full debut as we moved to a 343 formation with fullbacks Dasilva and Van Ewijk supporting the midfield in advanced positions when we were attacking.
It worked a treat and the only slight dissapointment, as far as you can be dissapointed with the way we are playing was the late Portsmouth goal. The first goal we have conceded in the Championship in 6 matches. It came late enough though for Carl Rushworth to break the club record of most minutes without conceding a goal as a Keeper which is brilliant considering how early into the season it is.
The win also meant it was the best start to a season ever in our history and it is just a joy to watch us play at the moment. Results are great but it is the intensity, the attacking play and desire that we are showing from minute 1 through to 90+ that is jus incredible. We never seem happy to settle, we want to score more and more and the level of fitness we have is allowing us to do that.
Ellis Simms played the full match and put in a really good performance, getting both assists for the goals and he showed what he is capable of physically and his work rate was brilliant so long may that continue. Simms playing allowed a rest for Haji Wright who should be fresh & ready for Watford.
A tough game, and think it will be close. We are very good at home and I think we will edge it.
