Wolves welcome Bournemouth to Molineux Stadium as Rob Edwards looks to add another scalp with victory over the Cherries.
There is no shame in losing at home to Manchester City, and for Wolves, the defeat brought an end to an unbeaten run that has surprised many – none more so than the Old Gold supporters themselves.
After collecting just two points by the end of 2025, Wolves have mounted an impressive revival.
A standout moment came away at Old Trafford, where they earned a credible 1-1 draw against Manchester United. That result followed a string of encouraging performances that were ultimately undone by late heartbreak, including a last-minute own goal in defeat against league leaders Arsenal.
Since the draw at United, Wolves have lost just one of their last six matches. That run includes a crucial victory over relegation rivals West Ham and a resounding 6-1 FA Cup win against Shrewsbury.
While recent form has put them in good standing to give supporters something to cheer, the damage done during a chaotic first half of the season may prove too large a gap to fully recover from.
Their visitors arrive in mixed form. Bournemouth have recorded back-to-back eye-catching victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, both ending 3-2 and both settled by dramatic late goals.
The win against Spurs was particularly significant, ending an 11-game winless run for a side that had once sat as high as third in the Premier League before slipping down to 15th.
Concerns deepened in January when Bournemouth sold their standout performer, Antoine Semenyo, to Manchester City for a reported £62.5 million.
Many expected their form to decline further, but Andoni Iraola’s side has since silenced critics with resilient performances away at Chelsea and at home to Arsenal, even if those matches yielded just a single point.
Currently 13th and two points clear of Tottenham in 14th, the Cherries will be eager to create some breathing space from the bottom six and rediscover the early-season form that made them one of the league’s surprise packages.
Edwards has close to a full squad available for Saturday’s crucial fixture, although speculation continues to surround striker Jørgen Strand Larsen, who has reportedly been linked with a £50 million move to Crystal Palace. Wolves will, however, be without Toti Gomes and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, both sidelined with thigh injuries.
Bournemouth’s injury list is considerably longer. Marcus Tavernier and Ben Doak are both out with thigh injuries and are not expected to return until late next month. Justin Kluivert and Tyler Adams are also unavailable with long-term knee injuries, while David Brooks is sidelined with an ankle issue, leaving Iraola light on options in the wide areas.
The game will not be shown live on UK television, with a 3pm kick-off on Saturday.
