Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to launch a move for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, according to L’Equipe du soir.
The Parisians are looking to bolster their already fearsome attack, and the Frenchman is reportedly at the top of their wishlist.
Sporting director Luis Campos has already assembled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembele, with youngster Ibrahim Mbaye waiting in the wings.
However, Dembele now operates as a false nine, while Barcola and Mbaye could leave the club this summer in search of game time, forcing the club to enter the market for reinforcements.
While Yan Diomande was reportedly their main target to reinforce the flanks, it appears they are after Olise, who bagged 22 goals and 31 assists in 57 appearances last season.
Olise was a stellar playmaker in England, but has taken his game to the next level in Germany, where he has delivered 42 goals and 54 assists in 104 appearances for Bayern.
Real Madrid have shown interest but were told unequivocally that he is not for sale, after Jose Mourinho went to scout him in the DFB Pokal final versus Stuttgart.
If there is any club that knows how to put up a fight, it is Bayern. When they hold on to their players, they maintain a tight grip.
It looked like Alphonso Davies was on his way out of the club to join Madrid, but they fought tooth and nail to give him a new deal.
They did the same for Dayot Upamecano. With Uli Hoeness at the helm, they are never afraid to take negotiations public.
PSG have a strong pull, but might struggle to convince Bayern to sell the 24-year-old.
The smarter move might be to head elsewhere in search of reinforcements, although few players are currently operating at Olise’s level.
