Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte was the hero for Uruguay in their quarterfinal matchup against Brazil. The 23-year-old played all 90 minutes and would need to enter a tense situation during the penalty kick shootout.

During the 90 minutes, Ugarte made two key passes and completed 28 of 31 passes for a 90 percent completion percentage. Moreover, the PSG standout won six of his 14 total duels while having two clearances and three total tackles.

Nonetheless, in the penalty kick shootout, Ugarte showed ice in his veins by scoring the game-clinching goal to send Uruguay to the semifinals against Colombia. Additionally, Ugarte’s efforts earned him recognition.

CONMEBOL’s Copa América account published the Team of the Week for the quarterfinal round and Ugarte made an appearance. The Uruguayan starred alongside top players like Manchester United’s Lisandro Martínez and Barcelona’s Raphinha.

Ugarte and Co. will now have to beat Colombia on Wednesday night at Bank of America Stadium to advance to the final against either Argentina or Canada in Miami.
