Paris Saint-Germain could be without two more key players for the game against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League this Wednesday.
PSG are already without Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, and club captain Marquinhos. The latter sustained an injury ahead of Les Parisiens’ 2-0 win over AJ Auxerre on Saturday and will miss several weeks of action.
The Champions League winners are paying for their long campaign last time around, which only ended in mid-July due to their run to the FIFA Club World Cup final. It meant that they only had one week of pre-season.
There are now two more casualties. Vitinha came off midway through the first half against Auxerre, whilst Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was withdrawn at half-time, after he could be seen touching his hamstring. Speaking in a post-match press conference attended by Get French Football News, Luis Enrique said that he couldn’t provide an update on the respective injuries, as he, like everyone else, awaits the results of the medical tests. “It isn’t positive,” admitted the PSG manager.
Vitinha and Kvaratskhelia are therefore now both doubts to face Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
