Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is attracting interest away from St James’ Park, with two European giants keen on signing the 25-year-old in January.
The Magpies are trying to ward off suitors, but they remain undeterred.
According to Tuttojuve, Juventus are keen, and Paris Saint-Germain are ‘unwilling to give up’ their pursuit of the Newcastle ace.
Newcastle must be particularly wary of the Ligue 1 champions. They have the financial means to meet the Magpies’ demands and entice the player with massive wages.
Reports from France claim that the Parisians are looking to add another midfielder to their engine room. They could attack for Tonali.
Tonali has become increasingly crucial under Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, playing an important role in the middle of the park.
The Italian international (29 caps) has featured nine times for the Toons this season, registering two assists.
Last term, he bagged six goals and three assists in 45 outings for the Geordies.
Letting Tonali go would be a massive mistake for Newcastle. He has already proven his worth for the club, combining technical precision with a relentless work rate.
His ability to dictate tempo and transition play from defence to attack makes him irreplaceable in the current squad.
Newcastle’s midfield lacks depth as it is, and losing Tonali would leave a gaping hole that no quick signing could realistically fill mid-season.
Instead of entertaining any offers, the club’s new sporting director Ross Wilson should be moving swiftly to tie him down beyond his current 2028 deal.
Extending Tonali’s contract would send a strong message that Newcastle are serious about building a team capable of challenging at the top, not selling its core talents.
Tonali is a player to build around, not one to cash in on. The Magpies have to force PSG to turn elsewhere for midfield reinforcement.
