PSG/Arsenal – Excellent news for Achraf Hakimi!

Achraf Hakimi, the 27-year-old Paris Saint-Germain right-back, injured his right thigh during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich. The question now is whether he will be able to play in PSG’s final against Arsenal on May 30. According to RMC Sport, that seems quite likely.

“The news is good for Achraf Hakimi. After hurting the back of his thigh in the first leg, the Moroccan full-back was ruled out of the second-leg Champions League semi-final. He is recovering well. And if everything goes smoothly, the 27-year-old player, who will also be highly anticipated with Morocco at the World Cup, should indeed take part in the Parisians’ European final.”

We remain cautious, as the media have too often gotten injury recovery timelines wrong. However, seeing Hakimi ready for the final seems quite likely. PSG’s medical statement did not suggest it was an especially long-term injury. The same applied to Lucas Chevalier (24). Treatment was needed over the “coming weeks.” That still leaves some suspense, especially since a Champions League final is not played with doubts hanging over it. We will have to wait for certainty.
