Luis Enrique led PSG to the much-coveted Champions League title last season, a goal the Parisians had been pursuing for years. The coach also secured the French league title and was runner-up at the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Spanish coach did not attend the ceremony as he was managing PSG in the 'Le Classique' match against Marseille in Ligue 1.

Luis Enrique had previously been named the world's best coach in 2015, when he won the Champions with Barcelona.

The Ballon d'Or only began awarding the best coach of the season in 2024, and the first winner was Carlo Ancelotti, now coach of the Brazilian national team. Luis Enrique was in competition with Antonio Conte, Hansi Flick, Enzo Maresca, and Arne Slot.

Lionesses' boss Sarina Wiegman was named Best Women's Coach. Wiegman has been in charge of the English national team since 2021 and had previously won the European Championship with Netherlands.

The Dutch coach had already won the award for best coach at the FIFA's The Best awards, both as coach of the Netherlands and also with England.
