UEFA have confirmed that Romanian official Radu Petrescu will take charge of proceedings at the Etihad Stadium between Manchester City and Feyenoord this week.

Manchester City will be hoping to return to winning form this week having succumbed to five defeats in a row across competitions, with the latest of those results coming in the Premier League and at the hands of a 0-4 loss to Tottenham at home on Saturday evening.

That defeat was preceded by a further two losses in the English top-flight at the hands of Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion away from home, with Spurs also defeating City in the Carabao Cup fourth round last month.

In the UEFA Champions League, it was also defeat for City last time out, with Ruben Amorim’s Sporting issuing a heavy 4-1 scoreline on the Premier League champions in Lisbon, in what would be the 39-year-old’s final European match before joining Manchester United.

As for Manchester City’s opponents Feyenoord this week, the Dutch giants find themselves in 21st position in the league phase format of Europe’s premier club competition, with two wins and two draws from their opening four matches.

Ahead of the meeting between Manchester City and Feyenoord, European football’s governing body UEFA have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium!

Match Referee

Romania’s 42-year-old match official Radu Petrescu has been appointed as match referee for the clash between Manchester City and Feyenoord on matchday five of the UEFA Champions League’s league phase this week.

It will be his first encounter involving Manchester City across his career, and only his second Champions League meeting of the ongoing campaign having issued five yellow cards in Aston Villa’s historic 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in early October.

Across the course of the season so far, Petrescu has taken charge of 14 matches across all competitions, handing out a total of 53 yellow cards, one second yellow card dismissal, and having awarded four penalties, too.

Assistant Referees

Accompanying Radu Petrescu at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night in the UEFA Champions League will be fellow Romanian assistant referees, Radu Ghinguleac and Mircea Mihail Grigoriu.

Video Assistant Referees

Overseeing the action and offering support and guidance from the VAR centre, Bastian Dankert of Germany will take up the role of Video Assistant Referee, with support from Switzerland’s Fedayi San in the position of Assistant Video Assistant Referee.

Fourth Official

Taking control of proceedings between the two dugouts inside the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening, and completing a full Romanian compliment of match officials, will be Marcel Birsan – ensuring all is well between Pep Guardiola and Arne Slot’s successor, Brian Priske.
