Raheem Sterling has joined Feyenoord on a deal until the end of the season after terminating his Chelsea contract, according to Glorioso 1904. The winger had previously been linked with Benfica.
He will play under Robin Van Persie. Feyenoord were knocked out of the Champions League in the third qualifying round by José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe, losing 6-4 on aggregate.
Van Persie hailed the capture, saying Sterling’s track record speaks for itself. He believes the forward’s qualities could change games and make him a valuable addition as they chase their objectives in the second half of the campaign.
Chelsea paid 56 million euros for Sterling in 2022. He then worked under four managers, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard and Mauricio Pochettino, making 81 appearances and scoring 19 goals. Enzo Maresca later made clear the winger was not in his 2024/25 plans.
Last season he was loaned to Arsenal, contributing one goal and five assists in 28 games. His last competitive appearance came on 25 May 2025 in a Premier League win over Southampton.
At 31, and after spells with Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal, this is his first move outside England. Feyenoord sit second in the Eredivisie on 42 points, 17 behind PSV.
