Raúl Asencio has been playing with a tibia fissure for a few weeks and will feature against Benfica in the Champions League. He completed 90 minutes in the 2-0 win over Villarreal and has rejected stopping despite the risk of aggravating the injury.
Marca’s specialist Dr Pedro Luis Ripoll says it may be an early-stage issue but continuing to play is not advisable, warning the fissure could enlarge, increasing the risk of a fracture and potentially leading to six months out.
Real Madrid have endured defensive absences, with Antonio Rudiger back in training on Monday, Éder Militão still recovering and David Alaba not yet at 100 percent. Asked if he might be rested, Asencio responded that he would not stop.
The 22-year-old has not yet debuted for Spain but continues to dream of a 2026 World Cup call-up.
