Paul Joyce, football journalist for The Times, has reported that RB Leipzig have contacted Everton to enquire about Thierno Barry and his availability for a move to the continent.

Barry has rarely impressed in his short time with Everton, although he does have eight goals to his name — and incredibly he played in all 38 of Everton's Premier League games, starting 21.

The Frenchman signed from Villarreal last summer for a fee of around £27m and endured a difficult debut campaign.

He will be most remembered for a spectacular bust-up of his own creation when he gave tickets in the Everton section at the Emirates to his Arsenal-supporting friends.

Sky Sports News are reporting that Everton have explored a loan deal for out-of-favour Chelsea forward Liam Delap, as the Toffees look to bring in a forward this summer.

Sorry, David Moyes can't come to the phone right now -- he's on TalkSport chatting shite with Jim White.

If it's regarding Thierno Barry, the answer is Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!

Mike Powell 4 Posted 18/06/2026 at 12:37:30

Bit of good news at last...

Well, that's if they buy him.

Kevin Naylor 5 Posted 18/06/2026 at 13:20:20

I'll drive him there myself.

Christy Ring 6 Posted 18/06/2026 at 13:27:27

Would love to get our money back, but I'll bet they'll offer less money and lower salary, and he'll want compensation?

Sean Kearns 7 Posted 18/06/2026 at 14:07:12

This is dream news!! He is by far the single worst player I have ever seen play for us. Fingers crossed on this one!!

Frankie McGrath 8 Posted 18/06/2026 at 14:08:14

I’m a bit concerned about the reference to Delap…

Jack Convery 9 Posted 18/06/2026 at 14:15:26

Imagine the phone call.

Hi RB Leipzig here.

Is Barry up for sale / loan ?

EFC personage - Haha some scouser having with a wind up. Listen lad do one.

RB - No, no I'm very serious we want him,

EFC - Seriously. Nah it's a wind up.

RB - Very serious we are about Herr Barry. Good player. We want him.

EFC - er. er, Ok but if this is a wind up I'll find you.

RB - No vind up Sir. My manager wants him for next season yah.

EFC - What are you offering and have you spoken to his agent. A man who can sell sand to the arabs.

RB - We come to you by plane and we discuss. Yah ?

EFC - Yes do that and if you have a decent striker, bring him with you, so we can do a swap. Yah ?

I'd take fuck all for him, just save on wages.

Just don't let who scouted him have anything to do with players again.

Joe McMahon 12 Posted 18/06/2026 at 15:59:52

You just know the replacement will be Delap. Defo a Moyes player, injuries, not very agile, slow and doesn't score. Where does it end, 1995.

Paul Hewitt 13 Posted 18/06/2026 at 16:05:17

Sell a player with 7 goals for one that only got 2. Surely we're not that stupid?

Jack Convery 14 Posted 18/06/2026 at 16:14:58

Paul - we are talking EFC remember !

Mark Taylor 15 Posted 18/06/2026 at 16:23:28

Sure. £20m plus Diomande.

Minik Hansen 16 Posted 18/06/2026 at 17:18:29

We're even linked with Openda.. At this point, it makes more sense to keep Barry.

The guy from Ligue 1 in France we're linked with is interesting. I'd be happy if we got him.

Alan McGuffog 17 Posted 18/06/2026 at 18:04:21

And there's a guy works down our chip shop swears he's Elvis.

Shaun Parker 18 Posted 18/06/2026 at 18:13:18

I've said it before...

Why do we not try and sign Rashford???

Paul Clements 19 Posted 18/06/2026 at 18:14:21

My Birthday today... and the kids will demand I make a wish whilst blowing out the candles on my Everton cake.

I now definitely know what I'm wishing for, please let this be true!

John Collins 20 Posted 18/06/2026 at 18:21:46

Shaun.

If you don't ask, you don't get. Improbable but you never know mate. I'd offer him Grealish wage and not sign Jack.

Paul Clements 21 Posted 18/06/2026 at 18:42:29

Tempting for Rashford, swapping team mates of Yamal & Pedri for McNeil & Gueye whist being coached by Moyes instead of Flick. More chance of seeing a pink unicorn fly over my house lads.

Shaun Parker 22 Posted 18/06/2026 at 19:21:00

What's that on your roof, Paul? Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

No, it's Davie Moyes on a pink unicorn 🦄 ... Go give it some water. 😂

Paul Griffiths 24 Posted 18/06/2026 at 20:13:23

To be fair PH, I think it's eight goals not seven.

Shaun Parker 18:Why do we not try and sign Rashford?

Because there is absolutely no way in the world that he would ever think of joining us.

John Collins 25 Posted 18/06/2026 at 20:20:46

8 in 21 starts.

That's not as bad as it's made out, especially in a side that doesn't create a lot of chances.

Ian Bennett 26 Posted 18/06/2026 at 20:39:38

I'd argue we need a different type of forward. I am not against keeping both of what we have, but we need a different type of option.

I watched Richarlison and I don't think it is him. Openda or Jonathan David are players that have struggled at Juventus, but have good records.

Mal van Schaick 27 Posted 18/06/2026 at 21:05:20

Please let it be true.

Ged Simpson 28 Posted 18/06/2026 at 21:08:22

"Movement and technical ability", Ian? Not really a trait of an Everton striker for quite a while but totally agree. We still seem to hope to have a traditional No 9 that worked decades ago.

With our game going backwards under Moyes, I can see so-called little clubs increasingly running rings round us as we pass back, Pickford then passes to a defender, inevitably gets it back and hoofs it upfield for our No 9 to miscontrol it.

Then repeat. Over and over and over again.

Robert Birks 29 Posted 18/06/2026 at 22:10:27

Tell you what Leipzig. I'll tell the Bungle Twins and Beto can give a Barry a backy on his bike to you.

Ian Wilkins 30 Posted 18/06/2026 at 23:30:53

Barry leaving for a sensible fee would be good for all parties. I think more likely Leipzig would want a loan.. Please no Delap, he had opportunities at Chelsea and looked awful. Surely our recruitment team could see that for themselves. Quality forwards are in short supply, but let’s do our diligence, Jonathan David looks as toothless as Barry. Tatty at West Ham looks hungry and has goals in him, but not the target man you can hoof a ball at that Moyes prefers. I would hope with best part of a season to consider our striking needs that our recruitment team has a sensible short list…

Paul Clements 31 Posted 18/06/2026 at 00:20:17

Not so sure about Delap, everyone slates him now but let's be honest last season most would have been happy to see him arrive. I personally don't take anything from his time at Chelsea, they ruin players just look at Palmer and many others. I'd swap him for any of the 2 bollards we have, no way it could be any worse.

Paul Clements 32 Posted 18/06/2026 at 00:46:20

I know it's nothing to do with this thread but just seen us linked with Spence, I'd take that over other links. Priority position and thought even back to his Forest days he was a decent RB. Prem experience, quick and takes risks! wasted at the team we should have relegated. Might have to much pace for Moyes though

Laurie Hartley 33 Posted 19/06/2026 at 01:35:27

I think it would be good for all concerned if Barry went to Leipzig. Replace him with Gabriel Jesus who can play CF or on the right.

Neil Tyrrell 34 Posted 19/06/2026 at 02:00:30

Jonathan David hat trick tonight, first one for a home nation in a WC since Geoff Hurst in '66 according to the commentary. Would much rather have him or Delap than Thierno Bambi.

Mick O\\\'Malley 35 Posted 19/06/2026 at 07:55:13

I certainty don't want Delap taking his place, Barry outscored him 8 to 2 last season, And Chelsea create more opportunities than we do. Ive really wanted the lad to do well, he has scored some really nice goals for us, tidy finishes but I don't think he's cut out for the PL and the way Moyes sets the team up we don't create much so when a chance comes along if it isn't taken the crowd get on his back and he seems to sink into his shell, I'd like to see Beto moved on as well because his feet are on the wrong legs but I definitely don't want Delap replacing them

Ian Bennett 36 Posted 19/06/2026 at 07:59:02

Ian 30 - Jonathan David had 10 goal involvements in 1780 minutes, so a goal every other game. Not a huge amount of minutes, but Juve have a lot of options.

At Lille he had 102 goal involvements in 178 games. He looks a composed, quality footballer, reminding me of a slightly more physical Jermaine Defoe.

Tatty looks to me more like a Marcus Bent. Puts a shift in, but lacks the class to be a true threat.

Juve signed David on a free, so id think there would be a good deal to be done here. Loan to buy, or an offer of around £40m would get a very decent striker, and critically someone that can play up front on his own or in a pair.

If we want a goal scorer to replace Lukuku, then you need to buy pedigree of someone that has delivered it in my view.

Jim Bennings 37 Posted 19/06/2026 at 08:08:58

I suppose they'd be looking at a good fee for Barry and try and get Delap on loan, would be a classic Everton thing to do.

I'd sell Barry, I just don't think he's cut out for the physical demands of this league nor really knows what we as a fanbase require from a centre forward.

I wouldn't pay money on Delap however, loan yes, see how he does but what we don't need is throwing another shit load of money on a striker that doesn't cut the the mustard

Andrew Ellams 38 Posted 19/06/2026 at 08:10:56

I'm not suggesting Delap is the answer to our problems but he is an improvement on Barry. I know that's a low bar but he offers more.

Jim Bennings 39 Posted 19/06/2026 at 08:16:51

I'd take Delap on loan and see how he goes.

If he knocks in 12 plus goals and looks and resembles a proper striker, the criteria being, able to hold a ball up, being a pain in the arse for defenders, looking interested, all of which is an upgrade on Barry's "I've just got out of bed for this" style.

My only concern on Delap would be his injury but let's see, if it happens it happens.

I still think if we had some decent scouts out there we'd find a hidden gem somewhere, but that never seems to happen at Everton.

Mike Powell 40 Posted 19/06/2026 at 08:26:48

Please don't go for Delap,he is no better than what we have, we may as well keep the chuckle brothers then get him, go and get Jesus, we need a different type of striker, instead of a big yard dog, please blues do not go for Delap

John Collins 41 Posted 19/06/2026 at 08:53:26

Mike,

Given the lack of chances Moyes teams create even Jesus won't save us.

Andrew Ellams 42 Posted 19/06/2026 at 08:53:29

Mike, Jesus has a shocking injury record.

John Collins 43 Posted 19/06/2026 at 08:54:24

He always makes a comeback though Andrew

Pete Hughes 44 Posted 19/06/2026 at 09:52:26

Off topic, we start the new season with a home game against Palace

John Chambers 45 Posted 19/06/2026 at 12:59:18

Have they got a decent right back?

Ian Bennett 46 Posted 19/06/2026 at 13:25:17

Died Spence linked. He has the kind of pace that we lack at the back.
