RB Leipzig are in contact with Everton over a summer transfer deal for Thierno Barry, according to the Times.
After joining the club last summer, he featured in every Premier League game and scored eight goals.
The 23-year-old striker is a key player under Toffees manager David Moyes, but an exit could be on the cards in the coming weeks.
Leipzig qualified for next season’s Champions League and have identified the Everton striker as a target.
They operate a data-driven recruitment model and will now hope European football will lure the Frenchman away from Merseyside.
Barry joined the Blues for an initial £27 million, and offering a similar fee could be enough to sign him.
Leipzig want to challenge Bayern Munich for the title, which could also appeal to the Everton man.
Barry started 21 league games last term as he had to share game time with Beto, who started 17 times and bagged nine goals in the league.
Italian clubs have shown interest in the Portuguese, and Everton are unlikely to be open to selling two strikers in the same window.
Senegalese attacker Iliman Ndiaye has also been linked with a potential summer exit, with Manchester United reportedly interested.
Moyes will be desperate to hold on to his top players heading into next season, and quality additions are also needed.
Everton missed out on European qualification, and they need solid recruitment this summer.
