The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have drawn up a three-man shortlist of defensive targets for the 2026 summer transfer window.

That’s according to Marca, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid are widely expected to bring in reinforcements at centre-back with a view to next season.

As much comes ahead of the expiration of the contracts of both David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger.

Long considered masters of the free agent market, it should in turn come as little surprise to hear of Los Blancos eyeing up cut-price options.

And as alluded to above, on Thursday, an insight into the current priorities on the shortlist of Florentino Pérez and co. has been provided.

As per a report from Marca, Real Madrid are considering moves for Ibrahima Konaté (Liverpool), Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich), and Marc Guéhi (Crystal Palace).

It is French international Konaté, though, who is viewed as the ‘no.1’ option in Madrid.
