Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has found himself in a precarious position as we near the January transfer window.
It is clear that the Spaniard is not one of Xabi Alonso’s top choices in midfield, with the Real Madrid coach primarily working with the likes of Tchouameni, Valverde and Camavinga.
Ceballos, therefore, has found himself falling behind in the pecking order, with the player just racking up 461 minutes of league action.
This has led to intense speculation surrounding Ceballos’ future, with Lyon reportedly asking about the possibility of signing the midfielder recently.
As reported by Diario AS, Ceballos remains hopeful that he will eventually be able to make an impression on Xabi Alonso and fight for his place in the starting eleven.

This is in line with earlier reports that claimed the former Arsenal star had no intention of leaving the club in the upcoming January transfer window.
From a sporting perspective, this does make sense as Real Madrid are quite thin in midfield when it comes to depth.
If any one of Valverde, Tchouameni or Camavinga picks up an injury, it would open the door for Ceballos to feature more often in the first team.
Even if the Spaniard fail to appear often during the second half of the campaign, keeping hold of his services simply as an insurance policy would make more sense rather than letting him leave in the January transfer window.
The coming weeks, therefore, could be interesting for Dani Ceballos as he looks for an opportunity to make an impact amid Real Madrid’s congested fixture list.
