Vinicius Jr.’s contract renewal is one of Real Madrid’s top priorities for the month, especially given that the player has officially entered the final twelve months of his deal.

Given the realistic chance that the player leaves as a free agent next summer, Los Blancos are looking to work out a solution that benefits all parties.

The best-case scenario remains a renewal agreement – something that has looked more likely in recent days but still requires an economic compromise from one party at least.

If an agreement cannot be reached, the club will push for a sale this summer to profit at least a little from the operation.

Crucial meeting set

As reported by Jose Felix Diaz in a recent report, Real Madrid want to resolve Vinicius’ contract situation this month at any cost and have thus set a meeting with his entourage late in July.

Everything will be decided when the parties meet for discussions on that occasion, and no scenario is ruled out if an agreement is not reached.

All efforts will undoubtedly be made to ensure that the two parties can reach a middle ground and that Vinicius stays.

If the player remains completely adamant, however, Los Blancos are still not opposed to even selling him immediately.

Mourinho’s critical call

As relayed earlier this week, Jose Mourinho is said to have made a direct call to Vinicius Jr. earlier this month to convince him of his project and to highlight the player’s importance.

During the aforementioned conversation, the new Real Madrid manager emphasised how the player was Brazil’s only reliable star at the World Cup and pacified him after the elimination.

He is even said to have explained to the player the exciting and fun project that lies ahead at the club and how Vinicius is critical for the same. Reportedly, the call ended with both parties very happy.

It thus remains to be seen what comes of the meeting set for later this month. The current feeling is one of optimism and Real Madrid internally feel that the player will renew his contract once he returns from his vacation.
