The 2025/26 season was a difficult one for Real Madrid and quite naturally, the club are bracing themselves for a summer of changes.
There could be serious alterations to the team and team roles next season, which may even impact tertiary players such as Fran Gonzalez.
The Spaniard is currently Real Madrid’s third-choice goalkeeper, behind Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin. He did not play a single competitive game for Los Blancos this past season.

According to Diario AS, Real Madrid won’t be sitting idle with Fran Gonzalez this summer and want him to gain some first-team experience.
The Spanish giants ideally want a loan deal for Gonzalez this summer, so that he can play more frequently at the highest level of football.
But Real Madrid are also open to permanently selling the young goalkeeper, as long as it comes with an option to retain 50% of his transfer rights.
This would later allow Los Blancos to sign him back on a discount, a formula the club have quite frequently used with their youth players in recent years.

The report adds that Real Madrid have immense faith in Fran Gonzalez and his potential, which is why the club are not keen on completely getting rid of him.
They ideally want the youngster to join a top-flight club, preferably in Spain. He will be under the close supervision of the technical team.
Gonzalez, for his part, is ready for the challenge, having recently switched his agency to Stellar Sports, which suggests he is bracing himself for a move elsewhere.
Chelsea were notably linked with a move for the Spaniard earlier this year, but it is unlikely the Blues would be welcome to a loan deal or a permanent that highly favours Real Madrid.
