Real Madrid oppose Pau Gasol deal with Liga F | OneFootball

Real Madrid have rejected the Pau Gasol partnership with Liga F a day after it was unveiled, confirming they will not join the investment approved at the 29 June assembly. The club said in a statement that a quarter of the competition’s teams have taken the same stance, that the plan does not align with a model based on sustainability, transparency and full club autonomy, and that a decision with 25-year economic and governance effects should also account for future entrants who would be bound without taking part or receiving the initial funds.

The operation involves financing from a private investor who would take between 35% and 49% of the competition’s future commercial revenues until June 2051.

Clubs that sign up would share 40 million euros, ceding a portion of those revenues for 25 years. Liga F would receive 12 million euros, and 3 million would go towards acquiring certain image rights of some players.

Gasol16 Ventures’ commitment totals 55 million euros, presented at the start of the week. Clubs may choose whether to adhere to the plan.

By opting out, Real Madrid will not receive any allocation under the scheme. Their stance does not alter the 55 million euros committed, which remains intact regardless of how many clubs participate.
