A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid was forced to sit out training on Saturday.
The player in question? Jesús Vallejo.
Stopper Vallejo for his part picked up a fresh fitness concern during training in midweek, described at the time as muscular overload.
And it would appear that the 27-year-old is yet to recover from as much…
As per a report from Marca, Vallejo was put through an individualised indoor training session away from the rest of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad this afternoon.
The Spaniard’s availability for Sunday’s meeting with Real Valladolid, as a result, appears to be in doubt.
Vallejo, of course, would have been unlikely to play any part in the matchup either way, but, with the options at the disposal of Ancelotti and his coaching staff at centre-back already limited at best, the stopper’s ongoing injury problems will mark a source of concern.
Real Madrid will face off with Real Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabéu tomorrow evening, hopeful of notching their first victory of the La Liga campaign after an opening day stalemate against Mallorca.
