Real Madrid defender David Alaba found himself linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu for a majority of the summer, but nothing came of it in the end.

Now, while the transfer window in Spain may have closed, clubs in Turkey, where the summer market is open for another week, are said to have shown an interest in the 33-year-old veteran.

Alaba does not pay attention to rumours

Currently away with the Austrian national team, Alaba was asked about the rumours linking him with a move away from Real Madrid.

In response, the seasoned campaigner laughed off the speculations, insisting that he is used to all the noise in the market but is not considering an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I laughed a lot because nothing was true,” said Alaba, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“I have been in the business for quite some time. Rumours like that are part of it. Luckily, I don’t dwell on them too much,” the Real Madrid star added.

Alaba is currently with the Austrian national team, where he admitted that he is ready to play despite not yet making his debut with Real Madrid in La Liga this season.

“I feel very good and I have made a lot of progress in recent months. I think I could play 90 minutes with the national team right now,” Alaba explained.

However, he erred on the side of caution, adding: “I don’t know if it would make sense. The next few games will show.”

The defender has overcome a serious knee injury that sidelined him for most of last season and is raring to get back to playing and regaining his rhythm.

“The process is not over yet; the next steps will come with the games. My goal is to play, to be on the pitch,” the veteran star stated.
