Real Sociedad remain relaxed over Jon Martín’s future despite Real Madrid and Barcelona links after his breakout season. According to Diario Vasco, that reflects both the player's wishes and the club's strong position.

The centre-back has led the defence this term, and such rumours unsettle fans after past exits like Illarramendi and Odriozola to Real Madrid, moves that did not work out.

Calm also stems from Martín’s wish to keep developing at Real and to add to the recent Copa del Rey, lifted five days before he turned 20. A staunch Real supporter, he sees staying as aligned with his ambitions.

His deal was renewed on 10 October, runs to 2031 and includes a €60 million release clause, high for a centre-back still near the start of his La Liga career. Real plan to demand the full clause from any suitor, as with Martin Zubimendi, a stance enabled by healthy finances, even if the club have often sold one prized player each year.

Martín is happy at Anoeta and wants to play in Europe next season in txuri-urdin, aiming to keep his starting spot. His salary may need to rise in time to reflect his status, now viewed as one of the league’s best centre-backs. He began on the bench after an ankle problem, then secured a starting place, played every Copa tie and scored against Levante in La Liga.
