Later today, Xabi Alonso’s men take on Real Sociedad in their first tricky away fixture of the season as they look to make it four wins out of as many games in La Liga.

Los Blancos, however, are expected to have some changes in the starting lineup with the manager looking to hand rest to players who played deep into the international break.

With the likes of Federico Valverde and Franco Mastantuono expected to be rested, the likes of Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz, and Dani Ceballos can look forward to a rare start but it is clear that the game will not be easy in any capacity.

Real Sociedad defender weighs in

Speaking to the media ahead of Real Sociedad’s clash against Real Madrid later today, La Real left-back Aihen Munoz spoke in depth about the game the team expects, the quality of Real Madrid, and Los Blancos’ depth on the wings which can torment his team.

“It’s a difficult game, but we really want to add three out of [three points] and it’s a nice game to show it,” he began.

“I see it as an opportunity, a good time to unite all more and gain confidence, regardless of the final result, although with a victory everything would be easier,” he added.

Munoz then went on to elaborate on what a win over Real Madrid would mean to the hosts, especially given their rough start to the season so far.

“Winning against Madrid, in our house, with our people, would be a good push.”

Vinicius Jr. was benched for Real Madrid’s game against Real Oviedo before the international break, creating a lot of speculation about his place in Xabi Alonso’s plans. When asked if he would like to see the Brazilian on the bench today for respite, he said,

“Vinicius is clear that he is a great player, he is usually a decisive player, you can see that he is not on the field. But it is Real Madrid, we have also suffered against Rodrygo or Brahim, because they keep the level very high,” he said, speaking on the team’s depth.

“You can’t say that because they play Madrid has been worse. And Mbappe is a great player, world-class, very decisive, and on top of that you can also see that he is a great professional and that he is very eager,” he added.

Finally, he was asked how desperately Real Sociedad’s rejuvenated dressing room needed the win over Real Madrid to boost their spirits, to which he said,

“Yes, there have been changes. Until now we had not experienced something like this, at least I, who was used to being with Imanol,” he began, reflecting on the changes at the Basque side.

“But now we are with Sergio, who is also showing us that he is a great coach. And also important colleagues came out, but those of us who are trying to give energy, contribute everything possible,” he concluded.
