Regional Rivals Club Xelajú M.C. and LD Alajuelense to Battle for 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup Crown

Miami, FL – Concacaf has confirmed the schedule and venues for the 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup Final. The two-legged Final between Club Xelajú M.C. (GUA) and LD Alajuelense (CRC) is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 26 (first leg) at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica, and Wednesday, Dec. 3 (second leg) at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Xelajú booked its place in the Final after edging Honduran side Real CD España 2-1 on penalties, following a 2-2 aggregate draw in regulation of the Semifinals. Making its second appearance in the tournament, the Guatemalan club advanced from Group D with a strong record of three wins and a loss. Xelajú went on to defeat Panama’s Sporting San Miguelito 3-2 on aggregate in the Quarterfinals, setting the stage for its dramatic Semifinal victory over Real España.Two-time defending champions Alajuelense secured its place in the Final after defeating Honduran powerhouse Olimpia 3-0 in a penalty shootout, following a 2-2 aggregate draw in the Semifinals. The Costa Rican side opened the tournament in Group A, advancing to the Knockout Stage with three wins and just one defeat. In the Quarterfinals, Alajuelense edged past another Honduran club, Motagua, advancing on away goals after a 2-2 aggregate score. That victory paved the way for its Semifinal win over Olimpia and secured their return to the regional tournament’s Final. In accordance with the competition regulations, to determine the host of the second leg of the Final, Concacaf has ranked the two finalists by total points accumulated in the competition, with the highest-ranked club hosting the all-decisive second-leg match. The winner of this regional competition will be crowned as Central American Cup champion and earn a direct berth to the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16. The runner-up, two losing semifinalists – Real CD España and Club Olimpia Deportivo – and two Play-In winners – CS Cartaginés and Sporting San Miguelito – have also qualified for next year’s Champions Cup, where they will begin play in Round One. The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup – the 61st edition of the competition – has already seen some of the region's top teams secure their places. The competition will kick off in February with Round One, followed by the Round of 16 in March, Quarterfinals in April, Semifinals spanning April and May, and culminating with the single-leg Final on Saturday, May 30.
