Régis Le Bris has confirmed Jocelin Ta Bi could rejoin the Sunderland squad at Wolves this weekend.
According to Sunderland Echo, the winger injured his ankle on his full Premier League debut against Fulham earlier this year and, after surgery, was initially expected to miss the rest of the campaign. He has progressed quicker than anticipated and trained with his team-mates this week.
Le Bris also offered encouraging updates on Bertrand Traoré and Nilson Angulo, who could make the squad after stepping up their recoveries at the Academy of Light this weekend. Next weekend’s visit of Manchester United may be a more realistic target for the pair.
Sunderland have been short of wide options in recent weeks, with four wingers sidelined at the same time. Le Bris said three of them should be available soon.
He cautioned that the returning players will need time to reach their best after lengthy lay-offs. While he feels they can add one-v-one threat, runs in behind and crossing, he does not expect an immediate jump in performance.
