Régis Le Bris believes Sunderland can keep the core of their squad this summer, even if recent performances tempt elite Premier League and European clubs.

Brian Brobbey is the latest to be linked with a summer move, with The Independent reporting that Bayern Munich are tracking his progress. While occasional sales are part of the model to strengthen finances and attract talent, Le Bris expects stability into next season.

"We never know what will happen because the market is so unpredictable," Le Bris said. He added that they do not want to change a whole team and that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus remains ambitious, with no plan to sell 50 per cent of the squad, while respecting the market and each player’s journey.

European qualification could present both an opportunity and a headache, as extra fixtures would require greater depth. UEFA rules would also restrict squad costs to 70% of revenues.

Le Bris said the club are not actively planning for that scenario yet, but a revamped structure means they can act decisively this summer. Director of football Florent Ghisolfi has overhauled scouting and recruitment in recent months, and Le Bris says they will be ready when the window opens.

Earlier this month Ghisolfi said they would try to improve the team but that stability will be paramount. He added there is no need to sell because of Premier League revenues, though occasional exits could happen to reflect player cycles and prove Sunderland can be a pathway for young talent.
