Sunderland return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon at Everton, with Régis Le Bris weighing up key selection calls after a strong display against Manchester United.
According to Sunderland Echo, both sides are chasing a top-half finish and an outside shot at Europe if they end well. Le Bris has a strong squad, so his XI and bench choices are not straightforward.
Robin Roefs kept a valuable clean sheet last weekend with a smart late stop, and could keep his momentum in goal.
Lutsharel Geertruida may be highly likely to leave this summer, but last week’s selection underlined Le Bris’s focus on the present. One of Sunderland’s standout performers, he has surely done enough to retain his place.
Nordi Mukiele is ideally used at right back, yet last week’s reshuffle in Ballard’s absence worked. Comfortable in central defence, he seems likely to continue there.
Omar Alderete has been a regular first pick this season, and that appears unlikely to change.
