Crystal Palace have moved to explore the possibility of signing Bilal El Khannouss from Leicester City, with club-to-club contact now established, according to David Ornstein in The Athletic. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been admired by a number of Premier League clubs since Leicester’s relegation, and Palace’s interest has now taken a more concrete shape.
The situation is directly tied to the future of Eberechi Eze, who remains a key target for Tottenham Hotspur. While no agreement has been reached, Spurs continue to push and Palace are preparing contingency plans.

has emerged as a prominent candidate to strengthen Oliver Glasner’s attack.
“While an offer has yet to be submitted, it is thought El Khannouss would be open to the idea.” His performances in England so far suggest he would be a natural fit for Palace’s progressive style, particularly if Eze departs.
Leicester may have endured relegation last season, yet El Khannouss shone brightly in his first year at the King Power Stadium. He joined from Belgian side Genk in August 2024 for £19 million, signing a four-year contract.
He was a regular under both Ruud van Nistelrooy and Steve Cooper, making 31 league appearances, scoring twice and assisting three goals. “The Morocco international showed in his first season with Leicester that he has the potential to perform consistently at Premier League level.” His ability to adapt quickly to English football despite a struggling team only enhances his reputation.
El Khannouss has already made an impact this season in the Championship, providing two assists in Leicester’s opening 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday. Known for his close control and intelligent passing, he has been described as someone who “has the ability to take the ball in tight spaces and turn towards goal.” His understanding with teammates, including Jamie Vardy and Luke Thomas, underlines his versatility.
As one scout noted, “he can pick a defence-splitting pass and loves to run at defenders.” His goal in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in January was a perfect example of his confidence in possession and his willingness to test goalkeepers from distance.
At just 21, El Khannouss looks a player destined for a return to top-flight football. For Palace, whose attacking options may soon require reshaping, the Moroccan could represent both a creative spark and a long-term investment.
For Crystal Palace supporters, the possibility of losing Eberechi Eze is both concerning and inevitable if Tottenham continue their pursuit with determination. Eze has been the heartbeat of Glasner’s attack, and his departure would leave a huge creative gap. Yet the link to Bilal El Khannouss offers a glimpse of optimism.
Fans will remember how El Khannouss quickly adapted to the intensity of English football, despite Leicester’s struggles. The Moroccan midfielder impressed with his intelligence, technical ability and vision. His two assists in the opening Championship match this season show he is already carrying Leicester creatively.
Some Palace supporters may feel sceptical. They have seen promising names linked before without deals materialising. Others may be excited by the idea of Glasner working with a player whose profile suits his system. “El Khannouss caught the eye in his first season in English football” and Palace know that signing a player on the rise could prove shrewd business.
The concern lies in timing. If Eze leaves late in the window, Palace will be under pressure to act fast. Negotiations with Leicester are never straightforward, particularly as the Foxes hope to return to the Premier League quickly. Yet should Palace secure El Khannouss, the sense among fans will be one of cautious excitement at replacing one bright star with another.
