Celtic are in the hunt for attackers as the transfer window enters the final few weeks. A number of names have been linked with a move to the Scottish Champions but in recent weeks, nothing more has transpired meaning that Celtic will likely go into Wednesday’s Champions League Playoff with the same squad.
However, there could be movement incoming on the transfer front as Calvin Stengs remains linked with a switch to Celtic Park. The Feyenoord winger is reportedly an option that Celtic are keen on, having made contact with his agents. Now, reports from Stengs’ homeland appear to suggest that Feyenoord could be prepared to sell the winger.
According to Dutch media outlet Voetbalzone Robin van Persie is willing to sanction the sale of Stengs.
Stengs was close to making a €8m switch to the MLS with Charlotte FC last year; however, the player decided to remain at Feyenoord before a four year deal could be completed. Celtic could land the player for somewhere less than this, especially if he has a year left on his deal as has been suggested.
Celtic fans may remember the winger from the Champions League campaign two seasons ago in which Stengs opened the scoring in a 2-0 win for the Dutch side. Since joining from Ligue 1 side Nice in 2023, Stengs has made 59 appearances for Feyenoord, scoring 9 times and assisting on 21 occasions.
