Return to Bayern Munich? What’s behind the Kenan Yildiz rumours

The recurring speculation surrounding Kenan Yildiz’s return to FC Bayern is finally off the table. According to the BILD podcast„Bayern Insider“, Munich are neither currently nor prospectively interested in the Juventus Turin attacker.

As BILD head of football Christian Falk and reporter Tobi Altschäffl emphasise in the podcast, the rumours of Bayern’s alleged interest have „no basis“. „That is not true,“ Falk made clear in no uncertain terms.

Turkish media had previously reported that the German record champions were considering a return of their former young talent. According to BILD, however, this is completely out of the question.

FC Bayern have not made any contact with the player and have not held any internal talks about a possible signing.

Too expensive and no sporting need

One key reason: the economic dimension. „He has a contract until 2029 and is expected to cost 90 million – Bayern are out of it,“ said Falk in the Bayern Insider podcast.

There is also no sporting need. The record champions are well-stocked in attack. Coach Vincent Kompany is also increasingly relying on talents such as Lennart Karl and Wisdom Mike, who play in similar positions.

Another winger would only intensify the already fierce competition – and at an investment that would hardly be compatible with Bayern’s current transfer strategy.

A painful but closed case

Yildiz’s departure from Munich in the summer of 2022 was a painful loss at the time. The home-grown talent moved to Juventus Turin on a free transfer, where he has since made the leap to the senior national team in Turkey.

Despite this development, FC Bayern has no intention of bringing back the prodigal son. „It would be an extreme admission of error to pay a lot of money for a player you have trained yourself,“ explains Altschäffl.
