After a slightly elongated negotiation process, Barcelona appear to have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over the sale of Pedro Fernandez ‘Dro’.
The move has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, who has given his customary ‘here we go’ for the transfer.
What is important to note about this transfer is that PSG had to negotiate a deal with Barcelona even though the youngster had a €6 million release clause embedded in his contract.
That is because the actual value of the transfer was slightly above the €6 million mark as PSG wanted to retain a positive relationship with Barcelona.
According to MARCA, Barcelona are set to receive €8.5 million from the sale of Dro this January, which is about two and a half million more than the value of his release clause.
It is unclear how much this will help Barcelona. But given the club’s current financial situation, they would welcome any additional revenue they can get.

In Dro, though, the Catalans will lose out on one of the most gifted players La Masia has produced in recent years.
The young midfielder, who was frustrated with his lack of game time in the first team, will join the PSG camp immediately.
The player had been training alone for a few days without any coach after friction emerged between him and the Barcelona camp, who were unhappy with his decision to leave.
The revenue earned from the Dro sale will help Barcelona to cover the host of purchases the club are expected to make this January, in terms of reinforcements in the youth department.
