Rob Edwards says Andre’s new four-year contract underlines Wolves’ intent to return to the Premier League next season after relegation.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the midfielder signed through to 2030 on Friday, a move that surprised supporters who had expected him to leave. Chairman Nathan Shi said discussions had been under way for some time.
Edwards praised Andre’s professionalism and growing leadership, and said his technical quality and Premier League promise could show in the Championship. He cautioned that the division is demanding, and described the deal as the start of what he hopes will be a positive summer, adding that Andre wanted assurance the club would build a strong team.
Since arriving, Andre has made 74 appearances and helped the club survive in his first campaign. The second year proved tougher, yet he continued to attract interest from other clubs.
Technical director Matt Jackson said Andre had committed to the project and kept his early promise to stay, calling him a man of his word.
