Wolves have sacked head coach Rob Edwards, and are set to appoint Cesar Peixoto as his replacement.

In a surprise development, it emerged overnight that he would be relieved of his duties. He was informed this morning, and the club confirmed his exit on social media at 11.15am.

Wolves are now moving for Peixoto, who currently manages Portuguese side Gil Vicente. Chairman Nathan Shi said it was an extremely difficult decision.

Edwards’ time in charge lasted a little more than 200 days. The change comes in a week when Wolves announced Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, the latter confirmed late Tuesday night.

On Saturday, the club said Matt Doherty would leave at the end of his contract after a 13-year association.
