Wolves have dismissed head coach Rob Edwards and are set to appoint Cesar Peixoto as his successor.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Edwards was informed on Thursday morning, despite the club this week announcing the arrivals of Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez.

Edwards learned of the decision by phone while abroad on holiday. It is understood the 43-year-old had been working on Wolves' summer recruitment and did not expect the call.

He was heavily involved in securing Trippier, and the full-back referenced Edwards' passion as a factor in his move.

Peixoto, 46, currently manages Portuguese side Gil Vicente and has only worked within the country's league system. He is represented by Jorge Mendes' Gestifute agency, which has a close relationship with Wolves owners Fosun.
