Former Chelsea goalkeeper Rob Green feels Robert Sanchez should have been sent off in Saturday’s defeat to Aston Villa.
Despite dominating the first half and taking the lead through Joao Pedro, Chelsea collapsed in the second and slumped to a 2-1 defeat thanks to an Ollie Watkins brace.
The defeat means Chelsea sit fifth in the table, three points behind Liverpool in fourth, and ten behind Villa in third.
Chelsea dominated the first half and should have been out of sight, but a lack of cutting edge let them down in the final third once again.
Unai Emery made a triple substitution which shifted the balance of the game, and Chelsea simply didn’t have the answer to Villa’s tactical change.

To make things worse Marc Cucurella went off with a suspected hamstring injury, and the Blues could have lost by more if it wasn’t for some good saves from Sanchez.
However, former Chelsea keeper Green, feels Sanchez was lucky to still be on the pitch after an incident in the second half which saw the Spaniard leave the box with the ball in his hands.
“This is something I’ve never seen,” he said on commentary for the BBC.
“Robert Sanchez does it a lot, when you’re thinking release the ball.
“I think he’s really fortunate not to get a red card here.”
Whilst Sanchez is performing well, the same can’t be said for Filip Jorgensen who wants to leave the club in January.

The Dane has made five appearances in all competitions, with just one of those coming in the Premier League, and he wants more regular minutes ahead of the World Cup next summer.
Chelsea reportedly don’t want to change their goalkeeping options mid-season, and it will be interesting to see if Jorgensen tries to force their hand next month.
