Rodri has made history after captaining Spain to FIFA World Cup success this summer.

Spain saw off Argentina in the 2026World Cup final on Sunday, with Rodri recognised for his role in their success with the tournament's Golden Ball.

Gerd Müller

Gerd Muller was the goalscorer who inspired Bayern Munich and West Germany's dominant run of success in the 1970s.

Muller won the Ballon d'Or in 1970 after winning the Golden Boot at that summer's World Cup, though West Germany were eliminated in the semi-finals.

'Der Bomber' did win silverware with the national team with triumphs at the 1972 European Championship and 1974 World Cup, alongside winning three consecutive European Cups with Bayern between 1974 and 1976.

Franz Beckenbauer

Franz Beckenbauer was a teammate of Muller's for club and country for each of those World Cup, European Championship, and European Cup successes.

The German great was also a two-time winner of the Ballon d'Or, voted as European Footballer of the Year in 1972 and 1976.
