Tony D’Amico’s arrival as Roma’s new Sporting Director is now a matter of hours.

The official announcement is expected between today and tomorrow, and he will immediately have to address several delicate issues related to building the squad to be made available to Gian Piero Gasperini.

Among the most pressing issues are those relating to Artem Dovbyk and Vaz, two profiles destined to be at the center of the Giallorossi’s summer evaluations.

As reported by Corriere della Sera, the Ukrainian striker’s situation warrants particular attention.

Dovbyk still weighs in on the club’s balance sheet for approximately €25 million, and a permanent sale would risk generating a capital loss.

For this reason, Roma is reportedly evaluating alternative solutions. One option is a swap deal, a solution already explored in recent weeks with Atalanta for Gianluca Scamacca.

However, the Bergamo club has reportedly been unwilling to accept this move. The other option, however, is a loan move, with the goal of developing the player’s potential and postponing any final decisions until next season.

The situation is different for Vaz.

According to the newspaper, Gasperini believes the young striker isn’t yet ready for a regular role in the first team. Keeping him as the third choice behind Malen and a potential new center forward would risk limiting his development.

For this reason, the most likely option is a temporary transfer to allow him to gain minutes and experience.
