Mile Svilar has been waiting for Roma and his camp to come to terms on a renewal for a long time at this point. The agreement should finally be reached before the end of the season. He makes €900k and has a few suitors across Europe, especially in England. The new deal should run until 2029, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays (via Pagine Romaniste).
The goalkeeper talked about his future in the presser before facing Porto. He spent time at Benfica in the past (via Il Messaggero).
“A lot changed for me in the last seven years. I feel good and only think about this game and winning matches in general. I’m grateful to the Giallorossi for this showcase. I don’t think their stadium will be as hot as the Olimpico. It is a nice one, but it is nothing like ours. I’m looking forward to playing.”
Svilar dished on the talks with Roma.
“We’ve discussed my extension last week, but I’m not thinking about it at the moment. Football is more important. I’ve never thought about leaving. Sometimes I get angry, like in the Como tilt, and throw things. I live matches very passionately and lose my temper occasionally.”
Svilar was quizzed about whether he prefers a three or a four-man defense and Pierluigi Gollini joining Roma to back him up.
“The coach says that if we’re focused, it’s hard to score against us no matter what. It doesn’t make much of a difference. He has the right energy. He works well, and that’s what we need. He felt at home right away, which does us really good.”
