Roma miss Crysencio Summerville, Andreas Schjelderup ‘to be considered’ for left flank | OneFootball

Roma’s move for Crysencio Summerville has collapsed after the winger accepted an offer from Al Hilal. Gazzetta dello Sport suggests the Italians could now consider Benfica’s Andreas Schjelderup to bolster the left side.

Summerville was close to joining the Serie A club, only to change course late on. Roma had tabled a 47 million euros bid, plus a further 4 million in add-ons, to West Ham, alongside a wage that would have made the Dutchman the squad’s top earner. A plane had even been arranged to fly him to the capital.

With the deal falling through, sporting director Tony D'Amico has turned to alternative targets. The leading option is Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa, while Schjelderup is also on the list.

The Norway international ended last season strongly and continues to attract interest beyond Portugal. Roma view him as offering less immediate impact than Nusa or Summerville, yet his talent and scope for development keep him in contention.

Roma are also monitoring PSG prospect Ibrahim Mbaye and Cologne’s Said El Mala. PSG are only open to a loan for Mbaye, and Cologne are seeking around 50 million euros for El Mala, leaving the Italians to weigh their next steps.
