Sports Judge Gerardo Mastrandrea officially announced the disciplinary decisions from the final round, confirming Wesley’s one-match suspension.
Roma, which had filed an appeal alleging a possible case of mistaken identity following his yellow card in the 19th minute of the second half against Como, were unable to resolve the matter.
The club argued that the foul on Diao was committed by Rensch, not the Brazilian, but the appeal was rejected.
The decision was influenced by the additional preliminary investigation provided by referee Davide Massa, who clarified the dynamics of the incident: “Como player No. 38, Diao, was legally challenged by Roma player No. 2, Rensch, but at the same time, was fouled by Roma player No. 43, Wesley.”
The VAR room also confirmed the referee’s actions. Fabbri confirmed that he had performed the check and found no grounds for corrective action. The Sports Judge stated: “The provisions of Article 61, paragraph 2, regarding Roma’s report cannot be applied.”
Wesley will therefore be unavailable for the next match against Lecce.
