Rony jokes about staying at Atlético-MG amid Santos interest

"If they do not send me away, I am here. I am not aware of anything yet. So far, nothing has been passed to us. We are a bit in the dark."

He was speaking to Itatiaia at Atlético-MG’s first day back on Friday. Signed in February last year, he is contracted until the end of 2027.

Santos president Marcelo Teixeira has said Rony fits head coach Vojvoda’s plans. Atlético-MG are open to a deal, but Sampaoli does not see room to release him now. The club would need to find a replacement first.

Santos are exploring a loan, while Atlético-MG prefer a permanent sale. Santos considered paying two million dollars to secure him for three years, with an option for two more.

The situation has cooled slightly in recent days.
