Ruben Amorim is facing an uncertain future at Manchester United after an abysmal start to the new campaign.

With just four points from four games, this is United’s worst start to a league season since 1992-93.

Sir Alex Ferguson managed to steady the ship at the time, and the rest, as they say, is history. However, Ferguson’s success was built on his ability to adapt and get the best out of his players.

Amorim refuses to change his ways

Amorim, meanwhile, is hell-bent on shoehorning his players based on his rigid principles rather than their skill sets.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Bruno Fernandes is unhappy operating in a deeper midfield role.

After his side’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester City, the Portuguese tactician was adamant that he will not change his philosophy, and the club’s hierarchy can “change the man” if they want to see something different.

Question marks over Amorim’s position

According to CentreDevils’ Sully, figures at United believe Amorim’s “refusal to change and his stubbornness will get him sacked soon.”

One source suggests the United head coach has had “one foot out the door” this season.

Further, some at club believe that the squad is much better than the league position they are in and it is a “good squad foundation for the new manager.”

Ineos have transformed United’s attack, spending north of £200 million on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

The attacking trio has shown flashes of promise. However, United’s midfield has struggled to frequently find attacking players, with Amorim mostly relying on his wing-backs or goalkeeper to build the attack.

This more direct, vertical approach has made United predictable going forward and vulnerable in transition due to lack of bodies in the middle of the park.
