FC Bayern is not only continuing to grow a strong team – there is a noticeable cohesion that shapes the overall picture. Matthias Sammer has clear words for this.

In an interview with Sky, Sammer praises the development under coach Vincent Kompany and highlights the team’s unity.

„How close the coach, Max Eberl, Christoph Freund and the club have brought the players to their level and if you look at them and if you see that a little bit, the players have all got better. Everyone has been physically consistent this year, so mentally consistent too, and you get the feeling that one is dying for the other on the pitch,“ said Sammer.

For the 58-year-old, what Bayern is currently bringing to the pitch is more than just a run of success. He speaks of a new dimension in the game that cannot be measured by numbers or tables alone. The current BVB advisor sees a „fantastic“ collective in the current phase that finds solutions even under pressure: „That’s the answer, being able to react to everything somewhere and win at the end of the game, and that’s fantastic at the moment.“

Sammer nevertheless warns ahead of the spring

Indeed, Bayern are delivering more than just results this season. Even though the recent 2-2 draw against Union Berlin ended their winning streak, the matchday was a psychological success. Manuel Neuer spoke of a „moral victory“, while Leipzig and Dortmund faltered – and Bayern extended their lead despite losing points thanks to Harry Kane’s last-minute equaliser.

This constellation is no coincidence, but follows a familiar pattern. Whenever the record champions falter, their rivals become nervous. The competition once again lacks consistency, while Bayern consolidates its position even with average performances.

However, Sammer emphasizes that the current Bayern face will only be put to the decisive test next spring: „This is a change that will have to be proven next March, next April, next May. Bayern knows that too.“
