Samu Costa has played down links to Benfica, saying his focus is on Portugal’s World Cup campaign after speaking before the Chile game.
According to Glorioso 1904, the Mallorca midfielder refused to be drawn on his future during a pre-match press conference.
His name has been tied to Benfica as they look to strengthen midfield options, though any deal faces major hurdles, not least Mallorca’s demand of around 25 million euros.
Although the 25-year-old remains on Benfica’s radar, his next move is undecided and there is no imminent outcome. He plans to make any decision only after Portugal’s involvement in the tournament.
In 2025/26 for Mallorca, Samu Costa, valued at 15 million euros, made 36 appearances, 34 in La Liga and two in the Taça do Rey. He logged 2,810 minutes, scoring seven goals with two assists.
