Villarreal B have signed Etienne Eto'o, son of Samuel Eto'o, on loan from Rayo Vallecano for the rest of the season.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the 23-year-old ended his Mirandés loan after six LaLiga Hypermotion appearances totalling 103 minutes, plus 148 minutes in two Copa del Rey ties.

He follows winger Nico Sánchez, signed from Alcalá, and striker Ayman Arguigue, on loan from Huesca. The club have also extended attacker Albert García by one season, taking his deal to June 2027.

Villarreal have history with footballing families. Walter Pandiani arrived in the relegation season with son Nicolas in the youth ranks, then left in December after two goals. John Neeskens, son of Johan, spent 2010/11 in the academy and now plays for FC Eindhoven.

Another link is Juan Esnaidar, a Real Zaragoza idol who also represented Real Madrid, Juventus and Atlético, and was Ballon d'Or nominated in 1995. His son, Juan Esnaider, 33, plays for KTP in Finland, featured for Zaragoza, and turned out for Villarreal C in 11/12.

Gio and Jonathan dos Santos impressed under Marcelino García Toral in his first spell, their father Zizinho a Brazilian midfielder noted with Club América. Pepe Reina, now coaching Villarreal’s youth side and a 2010 World Cup winner, is the son of former Barcelona and Atlético goalkeeper Miguel Reina. Carlo Adriano, son of Adriano García, now plays for Querétaro in Mexico, while Xisco Nadal is the son of Sebastián Nadal.
