Santos delay wages, aim to clear part of debt before Copa do Brasil tie | OneFootball

Santos have delayed paying first-team salaries and are attempting to clear part of the arrears before Wednesday's Copa do Brasil tie against Coritiba.

According to Globo.com, wages due on 11 May were missed, with a further two months of image rights also in arrears. The board hope to cover at least the contracted salary and one month of image rights between Tuesday and matchday.

Internally, the expectation is that the basic salary will be settled before kick-off in Paraná, scheduled for 19:30 Brasília time. The tie at Couto Pereira decides a place in the last 16.

It is not the first time this year the club have faced cash-flow strain and owed the squad.

Santos' overall debt stands at about R$ 1 billion. The 2025 financial statements show liabilities of R$ 998.5 million.

Of that, more than R$ 470 million falls due within 12 months. Medium and long-term obligations, beyond one year, total R$ 761 million.
