Santos expected to have academy trio available for Guarani clash | OneFootball

Santos are expected to have midfielder Gustavo Henrique and forwards Mateus Xavier and Pedro Assis available to face Guarani on Sunday 18 at 20:30 at Brinco de Ouro da Princesa, in the third round of the Paulistão. According to Diario Do Peixe, academy director José Renato Quaresma said the trio were called up to train with the senior squad on Saturday 17.

The coaching staff will still decide whether to include them in the matchday group. The team train at 16:00 at CT Rei Pelé, then head to Campinas.

Gustavo Henrique and Xavier have already featured in the Paulista opener against Novorizontino at the Vila. The midfielder came on 22 minutes into the second half. The left winger entered on 31 minutes of the second period.

Born in 2005, Gustavo has aged out of the youth set-up after the Copinha and is now a permanent member of the first team. Xavier and Pedro Assis remain eligible for the academy.

Santos remain without attacking midfielders Neymar, following knee arthroscopy, and Gabriel Bontempo, who has muscle oedema. Centre-forward Pedro Assis offers an option for the Argentine coach, while Mateus could be the Guilherme replacement that Vojvoda mentioned in his press conference.
