Santos named their squad to face Bragantino in the fifth round of the Campeonato Paulista, with Igor Vinícius and Álvaro Barreal left out. According to Globo.com, coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda has rested the pair, who have been starters early in the season. The match is on Sunday at 16:00 Brasília time at Neo Química Arena.

Vojvoda is managing the squad’s workload amid a crowded early schedule. After Bragantino, Santos visit Chapecoense for their Campeonato Brasileiro opener, then play two successive derbies against São Paulo, one in the Paulista and another in the Brasileiro.

Beyond fatigue, Barreal sustained a minor knock to his hip in Saturday’s training. The issue is not considered a concern for Santos’ upcoming games.

Regulars who have featured heavily and are in the squad could begin on the bench. That group includes centre-back Zé Ivaldo, midfielder Willian Arão and forward Benjamín Rollheiser.

Vojvoda has also recalled Tomás Rincón and forward Gustavo Caballero. Right-back JP Chermont and striker Rafael Freitas could get their first minutes of the year.
