Santos ‘to sign’ Michael from Flamengo for four million dollars | OneFootball

According to Rádio Globo, on Friday 16 Santos moved to sign Michael from Flamengo for four million dollars, about R$ 21 million at current rates.

A four-year contract would follow if final details are agreed. Flamengo would also retain 20 percent of his economic rights with an eye on a future sale.

Michael has been used sparingly under Filipe Luís. Santos have pursued the 29-year-old for weeks, though Internacional and Corinthians joined the chase in recent days.

His wish to play alongside Neymar and link up again with Gabigol has influenced his decision. Michael had two spells at Flamengo, from 2020 to 2021 and from 2024 to 2025.

In the latter he made 45 appearances, scored six goals and provided five assists, then slipped down the pecking order and even featured for the Garotos do Ninho side in the final round of last season’s Brasileirão against Mirassol.

Competition for his positions is strong, with Samuel Lino, Everton Cebolinha, Carrascal, Bruno Henrique, Luiz Araújo and Plata in the squad. Flamengo are also close to finalising the signing of Lucas Paquetá, who can operate in that sector.

Despite featuring for the youngsters last year, Michael will not play in the State Championship on Saturday 17. The academy side face Volta Redonda at Raulino de Oliveira, kick-off 21:30 Brasília time.
