Schalke are in advanced talks to sign Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Müller on loan until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old is keen to join and is prepared to do everything possible to aid the club’s bid for Bundesliga promotion.

He had also been linked with Hamburger SV in the past 24 hours, but Schalke now appear to be ahead. According to Sky Germany, final details between Heidenheim and the Gelsenkirchen club are still being clarified. Müller is ready to undergo a medical once an agreement is in place to speed up the move.

The transfer looks likelier amid suggestions that deputy keeper Justin Heekeren could leave soon. Het Nieuwsblad reports the 25-year-old is at the top of Anderlecht’s list as they seek a new back-up goalkeeper.

WAZ states there has been contact between Heekeren and Anderlecht, although a move is not currently imminent.
