A striker signing is one Manchester United may consider making this winter.
Indeed, there have been plenty of hints suggesting that INEOS could look to pull off such a deal.
Even after the Benjamin Sesko summer signing, United are still being linked with strikers. They have been linked with Levante’s Karl Etta Eyong, Palmeiras’ Vitor Roque, and AIK striker Kevin Filling.
Then there is the ongoing chatter surrounding Joshua Zirkzee‘s potential winter exit. The Dutchman has struggled for game time this season.
With his current situation at United threatening his chances of making the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, Zirkzee is now keen to leave in January.
He is being heavily linked with a move to AS Roma, and a loan deal with an option to buy is reportedly on the table.
Should he depart, United will almost certainly seek a replacement.
While Filling, Roque, and Eyong have already been identified as potential replacements, another, arguably more capable, option has now emerged.
According to Caught Offside, United have added Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy to their list of winter targets.
“Guirassy will have a €50m release clause in his Dortmund contract, which is only available to an unspecified select group of elite clubs,” the outlet reports.
“It remains to be seen if this includes the likes of Arsenal and Man Utd, but they’re both understood to be showing an interest in the 29-year-old,” the publication adds, while noting Paris Saint-Germain’s interest.
The Guinea international is undoubtedly one of the most clinical strikers in Europe.
With 45 goals in 65 games for Dortmund, the 29-year-old is as ruthless as they come, and he brings a wealth of experience to the table.
About his race, Caught Offside further notes: “United are one to watch as Ruben Amorim wants more experience up front, while Sesko is also injured and Joshua Zirkzee could leave in January.”
United fans will be hoping INEOS can pull this one off. As brilliant as they have been lately, their struggles in front of goal remain glaring.
Had they been more clinical in games like the 2–2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, the outcome could have been very different.
Guirassy could not only add goals to this United side but also serve as the ideal mentor for Benjamin Sesko, who is still developing into the lethal finisher many believe he will become.
